CXB 5k
The CXB 5k takes place in northeastern Virginia Beach along the Chesapeake Bay. Participants follow a 3.1 mile course through the tree-lined streets of the Chic’s Beach neighborhood. The event proceeds benefit the Chesapeake Beach Civic League.
The schedule includes two primary distances:
- 5 km running race
- 20 yards youth sprint
The 5 km race is a chip-timed event. Individual results for awards are scored using chip time, which measures the duration between crossing the start and finish mats. However, the first three overall finishers are determined by gun time according to USATF rules. The event includes specific categories for Open competitors, Masters (ages 40 and over), and Youth (ages 13 and under).
For safety reasons, dogs are not permitted on the race course but may attend the post-race activities. Runners with strollers are required to start behind participants without strollers. Children in strollers do not receive timing bibs and are not eligible for age division awards. The youth sprint, known as the Lil Chic's Sprint, is open to children born between June 2018 and October 2024 who can walk without adult assistance.
The first 450 registered participants receive an event T-shirt and a finisher's medal. A shuttle service operates from the Chic's Beach Shopping Center to the event area. Following the race, participants who present their bib receive a complimentary beverage. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
