Event Overview
The Cunningham Creek Wine Run 5k takes place at Cunningham Creek Winery in Palmyra, Virginia. This annual event offers a single 5k distance for running or walking.
Course Details
The course consists of two laps through the vineyard. The terrain is mostly grass with some uneven areas and includes several turns. The route is not designed for achieving a personal best running time. The event is held rain or shine, with a potential delay for severe weather.
Registration & Inclusions
Standard registration for the event includes a T-shirt, a portable wine glass, a finisher medal that doubles as a wine stopper, a chip-timed race bib, online results, and a pour of wine. A discounted registration is available for participants aged 1-20, which includes the T-shirt, medal, and bib but not the wine glass or wine. Prices increase after February 28, 2026.
Awards & Age Groups
Age group awards are given to the top three finishers in each 10-year category. Participants must start in the first wave to be eligible for these awards.
Participant Information
The event is open to participants aged 1 to 99. Walking is permitted, and leashed dogs are allowed on the course. Strollers are not permitted due to the terrain.
Timing & Results
The race is professionally chip-timed by J3 Timing. Results are posted online after the event.
Charity
A portion of the event's proceeds benefits the Lake Monticello Rescue Squad, a local emergency medical services provider.
Virtual Option
A virtual participation option is available. Registrants can choose to run on their own and pick up their packet, or switch to a virtual event to have their packet shipped for an additional fee.
