Culpeper Triathlon Festival
The Culpeper Triathlon Festival takes place at Mountain Run Lake Park in Culpeper, Virginia, situated at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This multisport event features several race formats including traditional triathlons, aquabike categories, and relay options. All competitions are USA Triathlon sanctioned and utilize a time trial start.
The swim portion is held in Mountain Run Lake. The bike course consists of well-paved, low-traffic roads through local farmland and countryside. This segment features several short, steep climbs and technical descents, with a total elevation gain of approximately 1,060 ft for the longer distance. The run course is an out-and-back route featuring a mix of flat sections and steady hills, providing views of the lake and the surrounding mountain range. Aid stations are positioned roughly every mile, offering water and electrolyte drinks.
