Culpeper Triathlon
The Culpeper Triathlon is a multi-sport event held at Mountain Run Lake Park in Culpeper, Virginia. Staged at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains since 2005, the competition features a swim in Mountain Run Lake followed by cycling and running courses with views of the surrounding mountains and water. The event is USA Triathlon (USAT) sanctioned.
Participants can choose from several event formats:
- Olympic Triathlon: 1.5k swim, 24 mile bike, and 10k run.
- Sprint Triathlon: 750m swim, 14.3 mile bike, and 5k run.
- Olympic Aquabike: 1.5k swim and 24 mile bike.
- Sprint Aquabike: 750m swim and 14.3 mile bike.
- Relay Teams: Available for both Olympic and Sprint distances.
The swim portion utilizes a time trial start where two athletes enter the water every few seconds. An Elite Box Start is also available for those wishing to start at the front of the field. The bike course consists of paved roads through the countryside, while the run course features a mix of flat sections and steady hills.
Registration includes a finisher medal, event tech shirt, custom race socks, and a post-race meal. Timed results and finisher certificates are provided to all participants. The event is open to individuals aged 12 and older. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
