Culpeper Law Enforcement Torch Run Run/Walk
The Culpeper Law Enforcement Torch Run Run/Walk is a community event held in Culpeper, Virginia. The event serves as a fundraiser for Special Olympics Virginia, supporting sports programs for people with intellectual disabilities. This global law enforcement initiative began in 1981 and has grown into an international movement involving thousands of officers.
The event features several participation options for both runners and walkers:
- Culpeper Law Enforcement Torch Run 5K
- Culpeper Law Enforcement Torch Fun Run
The 5K course begins and ends at Pavilion B of Yowell Meadow Park on the Gardner Street side. Participants follow a path on hard surfaces, heading towards the Daughters of the Revolution nature trail. The route continues on a connector trail toward the Lake Pelham dam before turning back. After re-entering the park, runners follow the hard path to complete a loop.
The Fun Run is specifically designed for children, starting near the skate park side of the N. Blue Ridge parking lot and running counterclockwise to the main finish line.
Parking is available at the Yowell Meadow Park lots and the Culpeper County lot located on N. Blue Ridge Avenue. Awards are presented following the conclusion of the runs. Team registration options are available for groups of five or more participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
