Crown City Classic 12K and 5K
The Crown City Classic occurs annually on July 4 in Coronado, California. Celebrating its 53rd year in 2026, the event features multiple running distances that start and finish at Tidelands Park. The courses provide views of the Coronado Bridge and the local coastline.
Participants can choose from several event distances:
- 12K (7.4 miles)
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- Kids Half Mile (0.5 miles)
- Virtual 5K and 12K
The 12K route is a flat course that proceeds along Glorietta Boulevard and passes the Navy Amphibious Base. It reaches a turnaround point near the Silver Strand Nature's Bridge to Discovery. The 5K route follows a similar coastal path through the Coronado area. For participants aged 12 and under, the Kids Half Mile is a lap around the outer sides of Tidelands Park that begins under a large American flag and finishes past rows of flags.
In-person participants receive an event t-shirt and a finisher medal. Results are provided live, and awards are given for overall and age group categories. The event also includes access to the Crown City Classic Expo. For those unable to attend in person, virtual options allow for participation on a self-selected course.
