Thrive San Diego Half Marathon & 5K
The Thrive San Diego event takes place in the Mission Bay area of San Diego. The competition offers multiple running distances and formats for participants to explore the coastal environment. All in-person courses use a start and finish line located at Ski Beach. The routes feature flat sections along the water, offering views of the bay and ocean breezes.
Participants can choose from several event distances:
- 13.1 miles (Half Marathon)
- 13.1 miles (2-person Half Marathon Relay)
- 3.1 miles (5K)
- Virtual 13.1 miles
- Virtual 3.1 miles
The half marathon is a 13.1-mile loop course that begins on Ingraham Street and winds around Mission Bay. For those choosing the relay option, two participants share the distance, with a transition point located at Telecote Shores where each runner completes approximately 6 to 6.5 miles. The 5K follows a shorter loop route along Crown Point.
Registered participants receive a technical short-sleeve shirt, a racer bib, and a finisher medal specific to their chosen distance. The event utilizes chip timing to provide live results and rankings. Awards are presented for overall performance and within specific age groups. The event also supports Make-A-Wish San Diego, with dedicated charity entries available for those who commit to a fundraising goal. A virtual option allows runners to complete their distance independently during race week and submit results to a leaderboard. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
