Cross Keys Road & Fell Relay
The Cross Keys Road & Fell Relay is a team relay race held from the Cross Keys Inn in Uppermill, OL3 6LW. Teams of four runners complete a sequence of two road legs and two fell legs, with road laps run on a hilly circuit and fell laps across Saddleworth Moor.
The event uses a mixed-format relay where each team includes both road and fell stages. Distances and climbs for the legs are given as approximate course figures below.
- Road leg: two laps, about 3 miles, 650 ft climb
- Fell leg: single lap, about 2.5 miles, 800 ft climb
Teams compete across a range of categories including Men Open, Women Open, Mixed, Men Vets, Women Vets, Juniors, and an any combination class without prizes. Entry is by team and the published entry fee is £20 per team. The event operates pre-entry and entry on the day is noted in event information. Course requirements include full body cover and a kit check for fell legs. Organisers request attention to local arrangements at the venue, including parking and event-specific rules.
The format was originally designed to bring road and fell runners together and combines tarmac circuit running with off road moorland terrain. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
