Croom Fools Run 50M/50K/16M

The event takes place in Withlacoochee State Forest near Brooksville, FL, and offers three trail race distances on the Croom Hiking Trail. The course is a 16 mile loop through long leaf pines and scrub oak covered hills, passing creek bottoms and cypress ponds.

Distances:

  • 50 mile race (three 16 mile loops)
  • 50K race (two 16 mile loops)
  • 16 mile race (one 16 mile loop)

There are three water stops per loop. That provides 3 stops for the 16 mile race, 8 stops for the 50K, and 12 stops for the 50 mile race. Aid stations are stocked with water, sports drink, gels, and some food. Because the course is looped, runners on multi-loop distances can return to the main staging area and access drop bags.

Packet pickup is available Friday evening and the morning of the race at the Tucker Hill start/finish location. The race field is limited to 250 runners overall, with a separate limit of 125 for the 16 mile race. All pre-registered entrants receive a full-color short-sleeved tech shirt, finisher awards are given to every participant, and overall and masters awards for male and female finishers will be presented for each distance. A post-race picnic includes burgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers, chips, fruit, and cookies.

This edition is the 30th annual running of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
