Event Overview

The Croom Fools Run offers three trail race distances on April 4, 2026: a 50 Mile race, a 50K race, and a 16 Mile race. The event takes place in the Withlacoochee State Forest near Brooksville, Florida.

Course Details

All races are run on the Croom Hiking Trail, a 16-mile loop. The trail winds through central Florida's landscape of long leaf pines, scrub oak-covered hills, creek bottoms, and cypress ponds.

  • The 50 Mile race consists of three loops of this course.
  • The 50K race consists of two loops.
  • The 16 Mile race is a single loop.

The course features three aid stations per loop, providing water, sports drink, gels, and some food. Runners in the 50-mile and 50K races will pass through the main staging area (Tucker Hill) during loops, where they can access drop bags. The 50-mile race has an 8:00 PM cutoff.

Event Information

This marks the 30th annual edition of the event. Registration is limited to 250 total participants, with a cap of 125 runners for the 16-mile distance. All pre-registered runners receive a full-color, short-sleeved tech shirt. Finisher awards are given to every participant, with additional overall and masters awards for each distance. A post-race picnic includes burgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers, chips, fruit, and cookies.

Packet pickup is available on Friday evening before the race at Tucker Hill (the start/finish area), as well as on race morning. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
