Crescent Hill 5K
Pottawattamie Conservation presents a midsummer trail event at Crescent Hill at Hitchcock on July 18, 2026. The program includes a trail 5K and a nature hike that loop around the ski area and offer views of the Loess Hills. Trail surfaces are dirt and gravel.
Distances
- 5K: 3.1 miles on dirt and gravel trail through wooded hills and around a pond.
- Nature Hike: 2.2 miles on Crescent Ridge Trail looping the ski area with scenic views.
The event features a Christmas in July costume theme and awards. Eco friendly medals will be given to the top three male and female finishers in each age group and for best costume. The top overall male and female finishers will receive a weekend ski pass for two. Age groups for the 5K span from 12 and under up to 60 plus.
Entry fees vary by date: $35 through June 18, $40 from June 19 through July 17, and $45 on July 18 with onsite card payments only. Shirt add-ons are available for $15 if ordered by July 1. Drink passes for ages 21 and over cost $5 and include two drink tickets. Proceeds support a terrain park tow rope estimated at $25,000 and four season recreation development in the Loess Hills.
