Event details
Crazy Muley Ultra 2026 is a sand dune trail race held in Edgerton, Alberta, Canada. The event offers the following race options:
- 50K
- 25K-ish
- 25K-ish 2-person relay
The start and finish are at the Sand Dune Liquor Store parking lot in Edgerton. The event finishes at a local bar and includes a finisher beer. All finishers receive a hand made clay buckle.
Course and logistics
Each course is a single loop. The routes run through sand dune complexes and mix single track, quad trails and roads (pavement and gravel). Runners will encounter rolling hills, loose sand and little to no shade. The 25K-ish and 50K share the first half of the loop before splitting. The relay teams switch at Aid Station 1; relay legs are approximately 16K and 11K.
The race is cup-less; participants are asked to bring a reusable cup. Drop bags are allowed and must be left with race volunteers before the start; they will be returned later in the day. Package pickup is available at a local Wainwright location and at the race site on race morning.
Aid stations, timing and awards
There are two main aid stations for the 50K and one main aid station for the 25K-ish, plus several water-only stations. Aid stations offer food, fluids, electrolyte mix and port-a-potty facilities. Cutoffs are 12 hours for the 50K and 6 hours for the 25K-ish. Awards are given to top three male and female finishers in each main category, relay awards, and special finish recognitions. Dogs are allowed with leash rules at start/finish and aid stations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
