Event overview
Crazy Muley Ultra takes place in Edgerton, Alberta on June 6, 2026. The event offers two primary options: a 50K solo distance and a 25K-ish option, which is available as a solo race or a two-person relay. The relay uses the same 25K-ish course with a team exchange at Aid Station 1; the relay legs are about 16 km and 11 km. Cutoff times are 12 hours for the 50K and 6 hours for the 25K-ish.
Course and support
Both courses are a single loop and share the first half before splitting into their own loops. The route goes through sand dune complexes and uses a mix of single track, quad trails, pavement, and gravel. Runners should expect rolling hills, loose sand, and limited shade. The course will be marked with Wainwright Runners pin flags.
There are two main aid stations on course. Aid Station 1 is at about 16 km and serves both distances (and is the relay exchange). Aid Station 2 is reached twice, at roughly 27 km and 32 km for 50K runners. Additional water-only stations are placed at approximate km markers: 8 km and 24 km for 25K-ish; 8 km, 22 km, 43 km, and 48 km for 50K. Aid stations and the finish provide food items, water, electrolyte mix, and pop. Drop bags are allowed.
Site, rules and amenities
The start and finish are at the Sand Dune Liquor Store parking lot in Edgerton, with the finish area adjacent to the Oasis Hotel. The race is cup-less; participants should bring a reusable cup. Dogs are permitted under specific leash rules at the start, finish, and aid stations and may be off leash between aid stations if under control. All finishers receive a handmade clay buckle and a finisher beer. Awards are given for top three in several gender and distance categories, plus additional placement awards. Camping options and local lodging are listed by the organizer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
