Wainwright Runners Backyard Ultra 2026

This Backyard Ultra consists of repeated 6.7 km loops. Each runner has one hour to complete a loop; loops restart on the hour and the event continues until no runners remain or the 24 hour limit is reached (about 100 miles).

The race site is the Wainwright splash park. The course is run on hard surfaces with mostly asphalt running paths and sidewalks and some road sections. Pin flags mark the route. Runners and crews may set up on the grass at the splash park and use the flush toilets on site.

There will be no official aid station; limited snacks and water will be available at the start/finish, so participants should bring their own fuel and hydration. The winner is the last person standing and the assist is the second last. If more than two runners start the final loop, the winner is the fastest final lap and the assist the second fastest final lap.

The event is also a fundraiser for the Wainwright pound in Lassa's name. CA$20 from each registration will be donated and pet food and item donations will be accepted for the pound. Registration places are limited; entries are non refundable but transfers are allowed. Package pickup is available at Western Financial Group the day before and at the race site on the morning of the event. Swag is limited. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
