The Crazy Legs 10k+ Trail Run takes place at Devil's Backbone Open Space, 1725 Hidden Valley Drive, Loveland, Colorado. The event includes an awards ceremony at Loveland Aleworks, 118 West 4th Street, Loveland. Runners may select a hat with a random patch as part of their entry.
The organizer states the 2028 edition will be the last year of the event. If trails are closed due to muddy conditions, registered runners will be transferred to the next year because the race cannot be rescheduled.
Course and logistics
The out-and-back/loop course begins and ends in the Devil’s Backbone parking lot and follows several named trails: Hidden Valley, Hunter Loop, Laughing Horse Loop, and Wild Loop. The route includes these segments (miles shown in the course description): 0.1, 2.2, 0.3, 0.3, 0.7, 0.5, 0.3, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, and 0.4 to the finish. The course will be marked with flour arrows.
There is a water stop near the 3-mile mark that is encountered twice; it will offer water and Gatorade and will be staffed by volunteers from the Loveland High School Band. Runners are advised to carry additional fluids if needed. Parking requires a purchased pass for Devil’s Backbone Open Space or vehicles may be ticketed; carpooling is recommended. Timing uses an old-school system where finishers receive a stick representing overall placing and must return it promptly. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
