Crazy Legs 10k+ Trail Run - Devils Backbone Open Space
Crazy Legs 10k+ Trail Run is held at Devils Backbone Open Space, 1725 Hidden Valley Road, Loveland, Colorado. The course is a looped trail that begins and finishes in the parking lot at the trailhead and uses sections of Hidden Valley, Hunter Loop, Laughing Horse Loop, and Wild Loop to create a roughly 10 kilometer route.
The written course directs runners onto Hidden Valley after a short approach, then 2.2 miles to Hunter Loop, a left onto Laughing Horse Loop with several short segments repeated to limit two-way traffic, further sections on Hunter Loop, and a lower Wild Loop segment before returning to the parking lot for the finish. The course will be marked with flour arrows.
There is a staffed water stop located near the 3 mile mark that runners will pass twice. The aid station supplies water and Gatorade only; runners needing additional fluids are advised to carry a hydration pack. The aid station will be staffed by volunteers from the Loveland High School Band and a donation will be provided to them.
Traffic and parking at the trailhead can fill quickly; participants must purchase the Devils Backbone Open Space parking pass or risk being ticketed. Timing is done in an old school manner: finishers receive a stick that represents overall placing and should return it promptly. Participants may select a hat with a random patch. If trails are closed for muddy conditions, entrants will be transferred to the following year. The event is scheduled to continue in 2026, 2027, and 2028, with 2028 noted as the final edition.
