Craig Dunain Hill Race

The Craig Dunain Hill Race is a hill running event held in Inverness, serving as the 2026 North District Hill Running Championships. The event features a new route starting from Forester's Way, near Great Glen House. This course is primarily set on established tracks and is fully marked for participants.

The event offers several distance options for different age categories:

  • 7 km senior race with 400 m of ascent.
  • 4 km junior race for U14 and U16 categories with 200 m of ascent.
  • 2.5 km junior race for U12 participants with 120 m of ascent.

The senior race is open to runners aged 18 and over, while junior categories cater to participants born between 2011 and 2016. Minimum age for the U12 event is 10 years on the day of the race. All participants must be prepared to carry safety equipment, including a whistle, compass, map, hat, gloves, and full waterproof body cover.

Administrative facilities and registration are located at the Leachkin Guides Hall, approximately 200 meters from the main car park at Great Glen House. Toilets are available at the hall, though there are no changing facilities. Following the races, refreshments are provided at the hall, and participants are encouraged to bring their own mugs.

Prizes are awarded for open and female categories across various age groups, including V40, V50, and V60. Specific championship prizes are also available for North District participants and masters teams. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
