Cowdray Winter Night Run
The event is a night-time running series at Cowdray Park with races across the estate and around the River Rother. Routes pass the Cowdray Ruins and return to the Walled Garden and heritage site. Head torches are mandatory and courses are marked with reflective signs, glow sticks and marshals from Sussex Search & Rescue.
Distances on offer:
- 3 km kids run for ages 6 to 11
- 5 km including junior category for ages 12 to 15
- 10 km with an option for dog friendly CaniRun entries
The 3 km kids race runs first and is led and swept by mountain bike riders; children are accompanied by hi‑vis safety marshals and issued LED safety bracelets. Most of the route is on bridleways and footpaths around the river and polo lawns, with a couple of gradual climbs and some private estate tracks open only on race day. Footing depends on weather and all courses may be changed if conditions require it.
Race HQ is The Walled Garden, Riverground Stables, Cowdray Park, Midhurst GU29 9AL. Parking is available nearby with several public and limited on-site options; participants are advised to allow time to park and walk to the start.
