Cowboy 100
The Cowboy 100 is a 100-mile point to point trail race that runs along the Cowboy Trail from Valentine to Atkinson. The trail is an old rail-trail surfaced with crushed limestone, closed to automobiles, and described as non-technical, 100 percent runnable, and very flat. The route runs the second half of the Cowboy 200 in reverse and includes the large bridge near sunrise.
The race will be capped at 150 runners. For 2027 the 100-mile race is separated from the 200-mile race and will feature a new finisher buckle design. Because the route differs from previous years, course records from the original Cowboy 100 will not transfer to this course.
Planned full aid stations are located in Arabia, Wood Lake, Johnstown, Ainsworth, Long Pine, Bassett, and Stuart, reducing average distance between aid to roughly 14 miles. Live GPS tracking will be provided. The event uses a generous 34 hour cutoff. Shuttle service for uncrewed runners will be available with details to follow. A runners manual and complete aid station information will be published prior to the race.
Registration closes Mar 22 at 11:59 PM CT. The event follows a no refunds and no bib transfers policy. Deferrals are allowed for race credit according to a sliding scale: 100 percent if done at least three months before the race, 75 percent at two months, and 50 percent at one month. No deferrals are allowed after Mar 17. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
