Valentine Marathon : event overview
The Valentine Marathon is a multi-distance running event in Valentine, Nebraska that benefits the Valentine Community Schools Foundation. The event offers a range of distances and a portion of registration proceeds is donated to the local schools foundation at the rate of one dollar per mile run.
The course follows the Cowboy Trail and is USATF certified, making it eligible as a Boston Marathon qualifying course. The surface is mostly smooth packed earth, with paved sections through town and a wooden-covered bridge. Aid stations are placed approximately every three miles. Professional timing and live runner tracking are provided, and official pacing support is available.
Race services and rules include a required packet pickup on the Friday before the event with no race-day packet pickup, no gear check, and non-transferable non-refundable entries. Entries may be deferred to the following year for a processing fee. The full marathon has a six hour completion cutoff, and walking is allowed for all distances. Finish-line provisions include local food and beer, live music at a festival atmosphere, free professional race photos for participants, and a belt buckle finisher medal.
