Cow Chip Classic Run/Walk
The Cow Chip Classic Run/Walk is the 45th annual community road race held on Saturday September 5, 2026 in Prairie Du Sac, Wisconsin. The event is presented in conjunction with the Wisconsin State Cow Chip Throw and is sponsored by the Sauk Prairie Community Club. The field starts in Prairie du Sac and crosses the Wisconsin River.
The course options are:
- 10K Run
- 5K Run/Walk
The 10K route climbs an uphill section called "Heartbreak Hill," passes the Lake Wisconsin Golf course, and returns into Prairie du Sac. The 5K route turns onto Golf Road and then returns into town.
The event uses chip timing with transponder chips attached to the race bib; participants should allow extra time for packet pickup. No animals are allowed on the race course or in the park. All proceeds are donated back into the community through the Sauk Prairie Community Club.
Age divisions for both distances include 0 to 14 and five year brackets through age 70, with a 70 and over division for male and female competitors. Plaques are awarded to winners and medals to second and third place finishers. Facilities listed include refreshments and snacks after the race as well as restrooms and showers. Packet pickup and T shirt distribution are held at Marion Park at the corner of Grand Avenue and Fourth Street near the outdoor pool.
