The Cow Chip Classic Run/Walk takes place on Saturday September 5, 2026, in Prairie Du Sac, WI. The event is the 45th annual race and is sponsored by the Sauk Prairie Community Club. It is held in conjunction with the Wisconsin State Cow Chip Throw on Labor Day weekend. Distances offered:

All proceeds are donated back into the community through the Sauk Prairie Community Club. The listed race venue is Grand Avenue Elementary School, 225 Grand Ave, Prairie Du Sac.
Course and logistics
All racers begin in Prairie Du Sac and cross the Wisconsin River. The 10K route includes a section called "Heartbreak Hill" and passes the Lake Wisconsin Golf course before returning to Prairie Du Sac. The 5K route turns onto Golf Road and then returns into town. The race uses chip timing with transponder chips attached to the race bib; participants are asked to allow extra time for packet pickup. Packet pickup and registration take place at Marion Park, corner of Grand Ave and Fourth St (near the pool); an early packet pickup with T-shirt is listed for Friday, August 30. No animals are allowed on the race course or in the park. Age divisions run from 0-14 in five-year brackets through 70, with 70 and over as a category; plaques go to winners and medals to second and third place finishers.
