Cow Chip Classic Run Walk
The Cow Chip Classic is an annual athletic event held in Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin, as part of the Wisconsin State Cow Chip Throw & Festival. Taking place during Labor Day weekend, the event offers two distinct distances for participants:
- 5k Run/Walk
- 10k Run
The race route features views of the Wisconsin countryside. Both the 5k and 10k courses begin near Marion Park in the middle of Fourth Street. The 5k route proceeds along Fourth Street to Prairie Street (PF), crosses the Highway 60 bridge, and continues to a turnaround point at a local golf course before returning along the same path. The 10k route follows a similar initial path across the bridge, but extends further up a hill to Highway 188 and Golf Road to form a larger loop that eventually reconnects with Highway 60 and returns to the finish line at Marion Park.
Registration is available online or through mail-in forms. Packet and t-shirt pickup is organized at Marion Park, located at the corner of Grand and Fourth Street, near the outdoor city pool. This pickup is available on the Friday evening before the race or on the morning of the event. The Sauk Prairie Police Department monitors local conditions and determines if any weather-related cancellations are necessary.
The event is held in conjunction with a larger community festival that includes a craft fair, parade, food court, and various entertainment activities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
