Covington Autumn 5K and Fun Run
The Covington Autumn 5K and Fun Run, also known as the Joe Waters 5K, takes place in Covington, Georgia. The event base is located at Legion Field on Mill Street. This gathering serves as a benefit for Covington York Rite Charities and Golden Fleece Lodge #6.
The event offers three distinct participation options:
- Covington Autumn 5K
- Virtual 5K
- Fun Run
The 5K course is designed for speed and is characterized as a fast route. It begins and ends at Legion Field, leading participants through downtown Covington and surrounding residential neighborhoods. The Virtual 5K option allows individuals to complete the 3.1 mile distance at any location between September 1st and September 26th. Results for the virtual event must be submitted online, though these participants are not eligible for event shirts or race-day awards.
Awards for the in-person 5K include custom pottery for overall winners, masters, and grandmasters categories. Recognition is also provided for the top three male and female finishers in age groups ranging from 10 and under to 80 and over. Participants in the Fun Run receive a finisher's ribbon. The competition is a recognized part of both the Black Bag Race Series and the Clover Glove Race Series. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
