Country to Capital Ultra
The Country to Capital Ultra is a 43 miles point to point ultra running event that runs from Wendover to Little Venice in London. It serves as an early season race and is listed as the first event in a four race Grand Slam series totaling over 180 miles. The event attracts an international field and combines rural and urban canal scenery.
The course begins in the Buckinghamshire countryside and follows a mix of surfaces before finishing near the Little Venice canal basin at the Stowe Centre in London W2. Terrain details include 11 miles of cross country trails, 12.1 miles of roads and paths, and 20 miles of canal towpath, with total elevation gain of +1375 ft and descent of -1720 ft. The route is waymarked but still requires navigation.
Participants are provided with real time GPS tracking through the Geo Tracks app, with updates every 10 seconds, and there are five checkpoints offering water, snacks and event fruit cake. All finishers receive a medal and Go Beyond merchandise, and prizes are awarded to the top three male and top three female finishers. Baggage transfer is available for a single carry on sized bag to the finish.
Mandatory kit includes a fully charged phone, power bank, water bottles, survival blanket, waterproof jacket, whistle, torch, hat and gloves, and a long sleeved base layer. Entrants must be over 18.
