Country to Capital Ultra Marathon
The Country to Capital Ultra Marathon is a renowned 43-mile point-to-point race starting at the Shoulder of Mutton Pub in Wendover and finishing near Little Venice Canal Basin in London. Serving as the official opener to the ultra running season, it attracts a global field of elite and amateur runners. The scenic course traverses the Buckinghamshire countryside, crosses the M25 via a bridge, and follows the Grand Union Canal towpath into central London.
The terrain includes cross-country trails, roads, and canal paths with an elevation gain of about 1,375 ft. The event features five checkpoints offering water, snacks, and the famous Go Beyond fruit cake. Participants receive GPS trackers for real-time navigation and tracking.
The finish area provides showers and relaxation facilities, with awards for top finishers and medals for all. This race is also the first in the Grand Slam series of four ultra marathons totaling over 180 miles. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
