SIUE Cougars Unleashed Homecoming Run
The Cougars Unleashed Homecoming Run & Pancake Breakfast takes place at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE). The event serves as a component of the SIUE Homecoming and Family Weekend and commemorates the Route 66 Centennial Celebration. The races start and finish at the SIUE Stratton Quad in Edwardsville, Illinois.
Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- 10K
- 5K
- 1 Mile Fun Run
Registration includes entry to the selected race, a ticket for a pancake breakfast provided by Chris Cakes, and a shirt for those who register by the early September deadline. Participants aged 21 and older also receive a ticket for a complimentary drink. The event features professional race timing.
The organizers follow an inclusive participation policy, encouraging entries from transgender and non-binary athletes. Participants' declared gender is accepted at face value without the need for additional documentation. The event is open to students, alumni, faculty, staff, and the general public. Registration proceeds support the SIUE Alumni Association Scholarship and Programs, which provide financial aid to students. Dogs are permitted to participate alongside runners.
