Cottonmouth 8 Mile & Beerlay
Cottonmouth 8 Mile & Beerlay is an Upstate Race Series event held June 5, 2027 at Lakewood Nature Preserve, 220 Lakewood Drive, Greenville, SC. The main format covers 8 miles completed as four two mile laps on a grassy trail loop.
Runners may compete solo or as a relay team of 2 to 4 runners, with one runner completing each lap. Before every lap participants receive a mystery brew from a communal iced pool; volunteers hand each drink already opened and poured. A non alcoholic division is provided for under 21 runners and anyone who prefers a carbonated alternative; those entries are scored separately.
The course is a two mile grassy trail loop through shady, rolling terrain with wildlife sightings and a rustic barn that serves as race headquarters and the beer staging area. There is no aid station on the loop; water is available at the finish area. Parking is available in field lots adjacent to the barn; a facility use fee is collected during registration.
Race entries include Beer Olympics admission, a custom bib, chip timing with live results, a finisher medal, event giveaways, and event photos. Awards are presented to top solo finishers, top teams across divisions, and age group winners. The event supports the Greenwood Genetic Center as part of the Upstate Giving Series.
