Cottonmouth 8 Mile Beerlay
The Cottonmouth 8 Mile Beerlay is a trail running event held at Lakewood Nature Preserve in Greenville, South Carolina on June 5, 2027. The course is four laps of a 2 mile grassy trail loop, held around a rustic barn that serves as race headquarters.
Participants may run solo or as a relay team of two to four people. The format includes a BYOB element: before each lap runners draw a randomly selected beer from a community iced pool and consume it before running. Solo runners bring four beers; relay teams contribute four beers to the pool. The drinking portion is restricted to those 21 and older, while minors and sober participants may use carbonated non alcoholic alternatives.
Timing uses chip timing with four lap split tracking for both solo runners and teams. All finishers receive a medal. Event features include custom race bibs and swag, free race photos, music, a post race party and included admission to a Beer Olympics with yard games such as beer pong, cornhole and tug of war. Awards are given to the top three overall solo finishers and to top teams across multiple divisions.
On site amenities noted by organizers include gear check for BYOB at tables outside the barn, three portable toilets at the start and finish area, water at the finish line, ample parking at 220 Lakewood Drive and support for the local nature preserve.
