Historical Racing Route in Circle City
The Corona 5000 is an inaugural athletic event held in Corona, California. The race takes place on Grand Boulevard, a location known for its "Circle City" layout and historical significance. Between 1913 and 1916, this circular road served as the course for the Corona Road Races, which attracted tens of thousands of spectators to witness early automotive racing. This event marks the 110th anniversary of that racing history by opening the iconic loop to runners and walkers.
The event features two primary participation options:
- 5K Run/Walk: A physical race held on the historic Grand Boulevard loop.
- Virtual 5K: An option for participants to complete the distance remotely with materials shipped to them.
The course is located at the Corona Historic Civic Center, starting near 815 W 6th St. The event is open to participants of all ages. Participants can register as individuals or join groups, and the event also supports local fundraising efforts. Registration fees are subject to increase after March 13, 2026. The route consists of a perfect circle in the heart of the city, providing a unique urban course for those looking to experience local history through sport.
