Copperlode Cup 2026
The Copperlode Cup is a road race held on Lake Morris Road in the mountains behind Cairns. The event has been staged more than 30 times and follows an uphill route through shady tropical rainforest to a picnic area that overlooks Lake Morris, which is held back by the Copperlode Dam.
Distances include:
- 15 kilometres uphill through rainforest.
- Relay with changeover at 7 km at the Waddlebla track.
The course is closed to cars during the race. Parking is provided at the bottom of Lake Morris Road; participants walk about 1 km to the gate. The gate will be open to allow family or friends to drive up to the finish area before the race starts. Water is available at the relay changeover point and cupcakes and fruit are provided at the finish. Car pooling is arranged to return runners downhill if required.
Registration closes Wed 12 Aug 2026. Entry fees are listed as Members $30 and Non-members $40. The event information also notes the return of the relay event with a designated changeover point at Waddlebla. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
