Naked Run : Cairns Road Runners
Naked Run is scheduled for 21 March 2027 on Barron Gorge Road near the turnaround/carpark. The event is organized by Cairns Road Runners and uses an out and back course of 6.5 km along a portion of Barron Gorge Road that is described as picturesque and traffic-free.
The race format emphasizes time prediction rather than raw finishing order. Participants nominate a predicted finish time before the run; the primary winner is the person whose actual time is closest to their prediction. Organizers note that the first finisher in each category will also be acknowledged but that accuracy of prediction is the main focus.
Despite the event name, nudity is not permitted under the event permit and insurance. Instead the concept asks runners to leave timing devices behind and run at their own pace without watch-based pacing.
Logistics note the start and finish are at a road gate with very limited parking and no toilet facilities. Organizers advise parking in side streets off Val Madre Street and walking or jogging uphill to the start location; the connecting section of road is open to cars. Residents of Caravonica should be considered by wearing clothes and keeping noise appropriate for a Sunday morning. Entries open on 11 March 2027.
