Coon Dog Day 5K : Saluda, NC
Coon Dog Day on July 11, 2026 is a community running event in downtown Saluda, North Carolina. The event is hosted in McCreery Park at the corner of Main Street and Greenville Street and raises funds for the Polk County High School Cadets marching band.
Two race options are offered:
- 5K
- 1K Kids' Fun Run
The 5K uses chip timing for all participants and awards are given by age group. The Kids' Fun Run uses clock timing and follows a loop through nearby streets; parents may join the children, and only children receive a T-shirt while supplies last. Packet pickup is the evening before at the Saluda Inn, and race day check-in is at Looking Glass Realty beside the post office. Parking is available at several nearby church lots and at the Saluda Elementary School back parking lot; a shuttle operates from the festival parking area.
Registration is online only through RunSignUp. Registration windows and fees are listed per event: the 5K carries a registration fee of $25, and the kids' run carries a fee of $15. To guarantee a T-shirt, register by June 15. The event is part of the town's daylong festival of crafts, food, music and community activities.
