Coombabah Trail Run
Coombabah Trail Run is a trail running and walking event held in the Coombabah Lakes Conservation Area near Lakelands Road, Coombabah, Queensland. The event features two course options:
- 13.2 km
- 6.2 km
The start and finish are located at the main entrance of the reserve opposite the Southport Airfield on Shelter Road (Koala Trail). Registration on event day provides each participant with a race number and a Coombabah Trail Run logoed visor.
Organisers are local runners and residents who spend time running and biking in the conservation area. The wetlands form part of the Southern Moreton Bay Marine Park and are registered under the Ramsar Convention on wetlands of international importance. To help protect the area the event limits entries to keep participant numbers small and personal.
On course medical support is provided by a fully equipped paramedical team. At the finish participants receive a sweet item and a cold refreshment. The March event includes lucky draws with YETI custom drinkware. Organisers also run an annual prize drawn from entries across the three yearly events that provides entry and accommodation for the Papatowai Challenge in Otago, New Zealand and includes accommodation for two and transport for the event weekend. Sport Otago supports this prize. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
