Cooks River Fun Run
The Cooks River Fun Run is a community running event held at Freshwater Park in Strathfield, NSW. Participants follow a flat and fast route along the Bay to Bay Cycleway adjacent to the Cooks River. Distances available on the day include:
- 10 km
- 5 km
- 2 km Family Dash
All event distances are chip timed by Multisport Australia. There is a 1-hour cut-off time for the 5 km and a 1 hour and 45 minute cut-off time for the 10 km. All finishers receive a themed finisher medal, a finisher certificate, post-race snacks and sponsor giveaways.
The 2 km Family Dash is aimed at involving children in outdoor activity; an accompanying adult may run with their child for an additional $10. The accompanying adult will not be timed and will not receive a finisher’s medal. Race bibs are printed three weeks before the event and posted two weeks out; to have a name on a bib, registration must be completed at least three weeks before the event.
Course marshals and accredited traffic controllers will manage the closed road crossing at Morgan Place. There will be other pedestrians and cyclists on the shared paths; participants are advised to pay attention to surroundings. A photographer will be present to capture images that will be posted after the event. Parking is available on Wilson Street, Ada Avenue and nearby residential streets. Bus 483 stops about 200 m from Freshwater Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
