Event Overview
The Connected Community 5K is a community event taking place on Saturday, May 9, 2026. It is the second annual edition of this run and walk, presented by Bridge Bedford. The event aims to support local initiatives that benefit the Shelbyville and Bedford area communities, which include sixteen K-12 schools.
Activities
The event features three separate activities:
- 5K
- 1 Mile
- Kid's Fun Run (for children aged 6 and under only)
Location
All activities start and finish at the Historic Shelbyville Square, located at 1 Public Square East in Shelbyville, Tennessee.
Inclusivity
The event is open to everyone. Organizers state it is designed to be inclusive and accessible, welcoming participants of all abilities, including those with disabilities.
Packet Pickup
All participants must collect their race packet, containing a bib and t-shirt, before the event starts. A registration confirmation and photo ID are required for pickup, though ID is not required for minors. For those registering with a school team, specific pickup details will be provided. A general pre-race packet pickup is scheduled for Friday, May 8th, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, though the location is to be determined. Packet pickup is also available on the event day.
Results and Awards
Results for the 5K will be available online after the race. The 1 Mile and Kid’s Fun Run are not timed. Awards are given for the 5K only. Top male and female finishers are recognized in student categories (Elementary, Middle, and High School grades) and in adult age groups from 20-24 to 80 and over.
