The course includes checkpoints on the summits of Wetherlam, Swirl How and the Old Man of Coniston, and finishes at Peascroft. The start is on the Copper Mines Road near the Coniston Institute.
The route is steep and rough in places with ridge sections and a notable final descent. Running or walking poles are not permitted. All checkpoints must be visited in order and race numbers must be clearly displayed on the front of the vest.
Entries are limited to 300 runners and the minimum age is 18. There will be no entries on the day. Substitutions are allowed until entries close and there are no refunds. Entry fees are shown for FRA members and non members.
Parking is provided at Coniston CE Primary School for a charge, with proceeds to the school. Registration and kit check take place at the Coniston Institute. Required kit includes taped waterproof jacket and trousers, map and compass suitable for the course, whistle, hat, gloves and emergency food. Water will be available at the finish. Prize giving will be held at the institute and results will be published after the race. The event is run under FRA rules and proceeds support Coniston Mountain Rescue Team.
