Event Details
The Concord 5000 is a 5000-meter track race. It takes place on a Friday in February. The event is hosted by the Concord High School Cross Country and Track & Field teams.
The Experience
The race uses a professional timer to provide runners with an accurate time on a track. Organizers describe a festive atmosphere with music and a food truck on site. Participants can expect encouragement from other runners.
Prizes are awarded to the top three finishers in each category. A special gift is also given to the fastest couple of the night. The event is held the day before Valentine's Day.
Purpose
All proceeds from the race benefit the Concord High School Cross Country and Track & Field programs. The funds are used for race entry fees, team gear, uniforms, and individual shoes for team members. Concord High School is a Title 1 school where over 50% of students come from low-income families.
Location
The race is held at 4200 Concord Ave in Concord, California. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
