Compton Bassett 5 Mile
Compton Bassett 5 Mile returns on Sunday 6 September 2026 as part of the Wiltshire Road Race League. The event is a measured 5 mile road race with a 300 runner entry limit.
The route sets off about 250 m beyond Compton Bassett Benson Hall (SN11 8RQ) and follows the minor C15 Compton Bassett road before turning onto a quiet unclassified country road known as the Highway Loop. At half distance the route rejoins the C15 and continues with a left turn at about 3.2 miles, then a right just after 4 miles to lead back to the Benson Hall. The course starts and ends at 104 m above mean sea level, has a minimum elevation of 86 m and a maximum gradient of 4.1 percent.
Event facilities include village hall registration and toilet facilities, free parking nearby provided by a local farmer with marshal direction, chip timing by DB Max, medical cover and water at the finish. The race has a UKA permit and a certificate of course accuracy.
Advance entry fees are shown as £20 affiliated and £22 non affiliated; on the day fees are shown as £25 affiliated and £27 non affiliated if the 300 runner limit has not been reached. Minimum age is 16 on the day with parent or guardian consent required for under 18s. Medals are provided for all finishers and prizes are awarded for overall and veteran categories. Portable music players are not permitted and may lead to disqualification. Participants should follow marshal instructions the highway code and UKA rules.
