Compton Bassett 5

The Compton Bassett 5 is a certified, chip timed road race organised by Calne Running Club on quiet country lanes around Compton Bassett and Highway. The course holds a certificate of course accuracy and a UKA race licence. The event is also a fixture in the 2026 Wiltshire Road Race League organised by Wiltshire Athletics Association.

The route covers 5 mile on a fast and flat course. The start is set about 250 m beyond the Compton Bassett Benson Hall (Briar Leaze, Compton Bassett, Calne, SN11 8RQ) and follows the minor C15 Compton Bassett road toward Highway. At about 0.8 miles the route turns right onto the Highway Loop, a level unclassified country road, then rejoins the C15 at half distance. Around 3.2 miles the route turns left and just after 4 miles bears right to return along the road toward the finish at Benson Hall.

Race headquarters, baggage and toilets are at the Compton Bassett Benson Hall. The hall will be manned and ample toilet facilities are available. Free parking is provided nearby by a local farmer with marshal directions to the parking area. Entry fees are £20 affiliated and £22 non affiliated, rising to £25 and £27 for on the day entries if not sold out. Prize categories cover overall and veteran age groups. Results will be published by the event timing service. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
