About the race
The Lakes Crossing is a point to point mountain ultra that follows Wainwright’s Coast to Coast route across the Lake District. The course runs from St Bees to Shap and covers 100KM of mixed terrain, including coastal paths, steep climbs, rocky descents, and mountain ground. Conditions can vary with the weather and sections are waymarked but should not be solely relied upon for navigation.
The event includes structured checkpoints with a full breakdown provided in the final race pack. Key checkpoint locations include Ennerdale, Borrowdale, Patterdale, and Shap. Checkpoints will provide water and hot food with vegan and gluten free options, snacks and race nutrition, indoor access, toilet facilities, and first aid support. A bag drop service operates from the start to the finish.
Overall cut off for the event is 30 hours and individual checkpoint cut offs will be published in the race pack. A mandatory kit list applies and live tracking is in place for all participants; trackers must be returned. A GPX file and final route details will be issued in advance.
The event is registered with the International Trail Running Association and finishing participants will earn ITRA endurance points. Entry requirements include a minimum age of 20 and an entry fee of £95. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
