Event overview

The Community First Thanksgiving Distance Classic is scheduled for November 27, 2025, at Pickwick Plaza, 9850 San Jose Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL. The event includes multiple race distances and serves as a fundraiser for the Mandarin Food Bank and for the development and maintenance of a three-mile running/walking path in Aterro Recreation Park on Sunbeam Road.

History and participation

This is the 42nd running of the Thanksgiving Distance Classic. The event began in 1984 with 500 half marathon participants. It has grown to attract over 3,000 participants and remains a long-standing fall running event in Jacksonville.

Logistics and awards

Race packets are available for pick up at selected 1st Place Sports stores on Tuesday, November 25 and Wednesday, November 26. Digital clocks will be located at each mile and at the finish. All miles and turns are marked. Traffic control is provided by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, but participants should be aware that traffic will be on parts of the course. There is a 3.5 hour course limit. All finishers in the Half Marathon, 5K and one mile receive a finisher medal. The 5K and Half Marathon include age-group awards; the Half Marathon also offers cash prizes for top finishers and masters. Entry fees include a $1 donation to the Mandarin Food Bank and there are no refunds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
