Community First Thanksgiving Distance Classic
The Community First Thanksgiving Distance Classic is an annual running event in Jacksonville, Florida, held on Thanksgiving morning. The event includes multiple race distances and has run since 1984; the original half marathon began with about 500 runners and still finishes at Pickwick Park Shopping Center.
The event features the following distances:
- Half Marathon
- 5K
- One mile Turkey Trot
The race is a major fundraiser for the Mandarin Food Bank and also raises funds to help build and maintain a three-mile running and walking path at Aterro Recreation Park on Sunbeam Road. More than 3,000 participants have taken part in recent editions.
Race swag includes a long-sleeve moisture wicking shirt, a finisher medal for all finishers, a race bib, and a goodie bag. Packet pickup is available at selected 1st Place Sports store locations on the two days before the race.
Entry fees are tiered by date and include a $1 donation to the Mandarin Food Bank. A $10 reduced registration applies for participants 17 and under and those 65 and over for the 5K and half marathon. There are no refunds.
Course details note digital clocks at each mile and at the finish, clearly marked miles and turns, traffic control by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office while traffic may remain on course, and a 3.5 hour course limit. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
