Event Overview
The Comlara Trail Run is a summer competition organized by the Lake Run Club, which was established in 1982. Located in Hudson, Illinois, this event is part of a larger trail series. The competition features a variety of timed formats and distances to accommodate different running preferences.
Course and Format
The main course is a 4.1-mile or 4.25-mile loop measured by GPS. Several events utilize a "last person standing" or elimination format. In these categories, participants must complete the loop within exactly one hour. If a runner finishes early, they may use the remaining time to rest and refuel. Any runner who does not return to the start within the hour is removed from the competition. At the top of every hour, all remaining participants begin the next loop together.
The available event categories include:
- 12-Hour Sunrise to Sunset Ultra: A survival-style competition covering up to 51 miles over 12 loops.
- Summer Siesta 6-Hour Trail Run: Follows the same hourly format, covering 25.5 miles over six loops.
- Breakfast Club 3-Hour Trail Run: A three-loop competition covering 12.75 miles.
- Come as You Are 1-Hour Trail Run: A non-competitive single loop of 4.25 miles.
- Run Until I'm Done: An open-format option where participants run at their own pace without hourly time pressure.
- Comlara Ultra Relay Team Competition: A team-based version of the trail challenge.
