Columbus for a Cure 5K
The National MPS Society hosts a timed 5K run and walk on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 400 West Whittier Street, Columbus, OH 43215. The event aims to raise money and awareness to support people living with rare diseases. Proceeds benefit the National MPS Society.
The event materials highlight several rare disease statistics: about 10% of Americans live with a rare disease, fewer than 5% of rare conditions have an FDA-approved treatment, and roughly 3 in 10 children with a rare condition do not live to see their fifth birthday. These figures frame the event's fundraising and awareness objectives.
The event schedule includes onsite registration and packet pick-up, a timed 5K run and walk, awards, and a family lunch; the lunch is included in registration costs. Buses will transport conference attendees on a rotation to the event site.
The event platform provides an option to create team fundraising pages. Team pages can include a photo, team name, bio, and fundraising goal and may be shared with others to accept donations. Registration opens May 6, 2026, and closes August 1, 2026. The registration fee is $35. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
