Coll Half Marathon
The Coll Half Marathon is an annual community running event on the Isle of Coll organised on a voluntary basis. The event is delivered by a sub-committee of Development Coll and involves many local residents. Many runners return each year and the route offers views across the island.
An Cridhe, the island community centre in Arinagour, serves as the hub of activity. Spectators and non-participants can watch runners as they pass the first kilometre and as they approach the finish line from vantage points at An Cridhe. Food and drink are available at the centre during the afternoon and evening.
In the evening An Cridhe hosts live music and a ceilidh. Traditional dances, including an Orcadian Strip the Willow, are part of the programme and local participants regularly help visitors learn the steps. After the event, a cooked breakfast is offered at An Cridhe before departures from the island.
The event holds a Scottish Athletics licence and is organised by volunteers under the legal framework of Development Coll, a company limited by guarantee (Company Number SC300498) with its registered office at An Cridhe, Arinagour, Isle of Coll PA78 6SY.
