Event Overview
The Colin's Joy Project 5K is an annual community event held in South Boston. The race serves to support the mission of Colin's Joy Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing play spaces and sponsoring family programming in South Boston and surrounding areas. The event features a combination of youth races and a full distance run or walk.
Course Details
The race takes place along a fast and flat 5 km course. Participants travel through scenic areas including Castle Island and the beaches of Day Boulevard. The route is situated near 866 East Broadway and follows the coastline.
Participation Options
There are three distinct race distances available:
- 5K: Open to all ages for both runners and walkers.
- 1/2 Mile Run: A youth race designed for participants 14 years and under.
- 100M Dash: A youth race designed for participants 9 years and under.
Event Services and Amenities
The first 250 registered participants for the 5K receive an event-specific shirt. Additional merchandise is available for purchase at a pop-up shop during the event. Following the races, participants can access light refreshments and entertainment during the awards ceremony. A raffle also takes place on-site.
Logistics
Bib pick-up is scheduled for the Friday evening prior to the race as well as on the morning of the event. Street parking is available in the adjacent residential and beach areas. While resident parking restrictions are not in effect on Saturdays, participants are encouraged to arrive early for the check-in process.
