Event

Run to the Castle Ultra is a point-to-point running event organised by How Hard Can It Be Events. It is scheduled for 15 August 2026 and also runs in January 2026. The event location is Aberdovey Village Hall, Aberdovey LL35 0NR. Open to entrants aged 18 and over.

  • Marathon - from Aberdyfi to Barmouth

Route and logistics

The route follows the coastal path and passes Tywyn seafront, the village of Fairbourne, Fairbourne bridge, and Barmouth before reaching Harlech. The course surface includes beach, tracks, and pavements and is clearly signed. The start is about 200 yards from Aberdyfi train station and the village car park. Harlech train station is about 200 yards from the finish, and connecting trains run at roughly 90-120 minute intervals. One bag per runner is transported from the start to the finish.

Entry, services and rules

Entry fees cover a fully recceed course, food and drinks at four checkpoints, and a finishers medal. Results are published online after the race. There is a 12 hour time limit. Compulsory kit includes a rucksack with a minimum 1 litre water capacity, emergency food, a fully charged mobile phone, waterproof jacket, whistle, map, compass, and a first aid kit.
