Event overview
The Coal Cracker 10K takes place on Saturday, June 13, 2026, in Shenandoah, PA (ZIP 17976). The event program includes the following distances:
- 10 km
- 1.5 miles (Kids Fun Run, open to children 12 and under)
- 1.5 miles (run/walk)
Runners and participants can register for the 10K, the kids fun run (with or without a shirt option), or volunteer.
Course and logistics
All races now start at the finish line, the corner of Centre and Market Streets, and begin in downtown Shenandoah. The 10K course passes through downtown streets and the rolling terrain of the Coal Region, includes multiple hills, and climbs the steep St. Nick's breaker. After the climb there is about a one-mile descent back into town, and the finish is located on a short incline. Early packet pickup will be available at the Polish American Fire Company. Day-of registration and packet pickup take place at the Polish American Fire Company, 115 W Centre St, Shenandoah, PA.
Awards and divisions
Overall awards are given to the top three male and top three female finishers. The top two finishers in each age group also receive awards. Age groups run from 19 & under, then 20-24, 25-29, up to 70+. Speciality awards include youngest finisher, oldest finisher, first local male, and first local female. A Clydesdale/Athena division is offered; weight minimums are 220 lb for Clydesdale and 165 lb for Athena, and entrants in these divisions forfeit age group awards.
