Event Overview
The Coach Mike Slinskey Memorial 5K is a running event held in honor of Mike Slinskey, a local runner from the Hudson Valley. It is organized by Grass Roots Running and the Mid-Hudson Road Runners Club.

The event takes place on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls, New York. The address is 85 Sheafe Road.
The event includes three options:
- Coach Mike Slinskey Memorial 5k
- Coach Mike Slinskey Memorial 5k (Virtual)
- Coach Mike Slinskey Memorial Kids 1 mile for participants aged 12 and under.
Immediately following the 5K, there is an optional "Slinskey Surprise" event, which is a 400-meter all-out run.
Registration and Charity
Proceeds from the event support the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA), a local nonprofit called GlioLeo, and a scholarship fund at Our Lady of Lourdes established in Mike Slinskey's name. The event previously attracted 300 participants, 26 sponsors, over 40 volunteers, and raised over $7,000.
Awards
Awards are presented for the 5K event, including overall male and female winners, winners in the 13-19 age group, and top boy and girl under 12. Age group awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in categories from under 12 to 80+. For the kids' one-mile race, overall boy and girl awards are given.
