Event Overview
The CNB Oak Forest Fleadh 5K is a running event in Oak Forest, Illinois. It is described as the 17th annual event, part of a local festival. "Fleadh" is a Gaelic word for festival, and the event aims to be a festive way to kick off spring.
Race Details
The course is a 5K route through Oak Forest neighborhoods and past local landmarks, including St. Damian Church and Oak Forest High School. The start line is at 155th Street and Betty Ann Lane. All participants will be chip-timed using a disposable tag attached to the race bib.
Age group awards are given. Medals are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each age category, and the top three winners overall also receive awards. The award ceremony is held at the Oak Forest Fire Station #1.
Participant Information
Registration fees vary. There is a youth category for ages 15 and under. Packet pickup is available at CNB Bank & Trust on two days prior to the event, as well as on race day at the Oak Forest Fire Station #1. The first 400-500 participants receive a short-sleeve race t-shirt, and goodie bags are available while supplies last.
Walkers and strollers are permitted at the back of the pack. Dogs, roller blades, bicycles, and skateboards are not allowed. Parking is available on local streets near the start line and at St. Damian Church.
Related Activities
After the race, refreshments are available at Oak Forest Fire Station #1. Later in the morning, a family parade steps off from 151st Street and Central Avenue. A "Hunt for the $1000 Golden Ticket" activity is held along the parade route, sponsored by a local business.
