About the race
The Tall Poppy Central Otago 21.1km is the half marathon at the Clyde Classic, held in the historic gold-mining township of Clyde and centred on Clyde Primary School at 26 Blyth Street. The course forms a loop that passes through the town, crosses the Contact Energy Clyde Dam, follows riverside tracks along the Clutha River, enters Three Miners Vineyard and uses the Hidden Highway before returning over the Clyde Bridge toward the school. Race logistics and race-day provisions include aid stations at approximately 4.5 km, 10 km and 15 km offering lollies, chips and water, and toilets located near 4.5 km and 15.5 km. The event is cupless; participants must carry a collapsible cup, flask or hydration pack.
All finishers receive a medal. The race is run only and the minimum age is 16 years on race day. Bicycles, prams, buggies and animals are not permitted on course. Entry fees change by registration period with published categories: Early Bird, Standard, Late Entry and Super Late Entry.
The Clyde Classic donates a portion of entry fees back to Clyde Primary School and highlights local partners such as Three Miners Vineyard and PURE Sports Nutrition among its supporters. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
