Club South Runners Freedom Mile
The Club South Runners Freedom Mile is a running event held in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The competition takes place on River Road and features a variety of races centered around the 1 mile distance. Participants compete in specific waves based on age and gender categories, which move along a point-to-point course. The finish line for these races is located at the Old State Capitol.
Distances available for participants include:
- 1 mile (Masters, Grandmasters, Youth, and Open divisions)
- 0.5 miles (Parent-child fun run)
The 1 mile races utilize a point-to-point format. To assist participants, a shuttle bus service operates from the finish line back to the starting area for each of these events. The 0.5 mile parent-child fun run follows an out-and-back course rather than a point-to-point route.
The event recognizes top performers across several categories. Awards are presented to overall male and female winners, as well as leaders in the Masters and Grandmasters divisions. Age group recognition is provided three deep for participants ranging from under 15 to those aged 70 and over. In the youth categories, certificates are awarded to those placing in the top three for age groups starting at 8 and under through 14 years old. Children participating in the fun run receive a finisher certificate. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
