Cliff Runner 10K at High Cliff State Park
The Cliff Runner 10K is a trail event held at High Cliff State Park in Sherwood, WI on July 19th 2026. The course is a 10 km loop run primarily on single track trails and designed to pass through many of the park's more rugged sections. Runners will encounter rocks, roots, boulders, and hills with a total elevation gain of nearly 500 feet.
The route begins at the Lime Kiln parking lot and includes an ascent on an old service road toward a lookout tower, a section past the Great RedBird statue, several road crossings, and both double track and tighter woodsy single track. The Lime Kiln trail is run twice, including an upper and lower trail, a small waterfall area with a water station, and a railroad stairway known as the stairway to heaven, which is climbed twice during the full event. Flags mark tricky intersections and volunteers indicate lap one and lap two.
There is no cutoff time and participants may run or power hike. Registration includes a Cliff Runner T Shirt and a finisher's medal. A portion of proceeds will be donated to the Purdy Nature Preserve at the Apple Creek YMCA. Participants must purchase a day park pass for High Cliff State Park unless they already have an annual sticker.
