Event
The Clawson Runs event includes a community 5k and two one-mile races on June 28 and July 4, 2026. The Freedom Run 5k is an evening road event that was first held in 1979. A free Kids 1-Mile fun run takes place at the park. The Firecracker Mile is held on the morning of July 4 and follows the parade route on 14 Mile.

Location and course
The Freedom Run 5k and the Kids 1-mile start and finish at Clawson City Park and run through tree-lined neighborhood streets; the kids route follows a wood-chip path around the park. The Firecracker Mile starts on 14 Mile just east of Crooks and finishes just east of Livernois (Main Street), running along the parade route.
Awards and registration
Kids 1-mile awards are presented to the top three boys and top three girls (age 12 and under). 5k awards include medals for the top 50 male and female finishers, trophies for the top three male and female finishers, and first place in each age group. The Firecracker Mile offers cash prizes for the top three men and women, tiered bonuses for top performances, and medals to the top 50 finishers. There is a $200 prize for top combined finishers across the 5k and the Firecracker Mile in four age/gender categories. Registration by June 12 is required to be guaranteed a shirt.
