The Massachusetts Shellfish Officers Association (MSOA) organized the Third Annual Clam Crawl beach fun run on Sunday, Sept 28th 2025 at Sandy Neck Beach in Barnstable. The event takes place on sand and allows participants to walk, run, or crawl a measured course.

Distances offered include:

3K course on sand
5K course on sand

The MSOA has an award program for high school seniors who are pursuing a degree in marine biology and who reside in a coastal town or city that sponsors an MSOA representative. Proceeds from the event support three scholarships for eligible high school seniors.

The Clam Crawl is scheduled to return on October 11th 2026 at Sandy Neck Beach. For 2026, the MSOA is partnering with Cape Cod Roller Derby to support that organization’s scholarship fund, which aims to help young people be active through roller skating.
