Clam Crawl

The Clam Crawl is a beach fun run organized by the Massachusetts Shellfish Officers Association at Sandy Neck Beach in Barnstable. The event invites participants to walk, run, or crawl across sand on measured courses.

3K course over sand
5K course over sand

The Third Annual Clam Crawl took place on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Sandy Neck Beach; organizers reported favorable weather and thanked participants and volunteers. The event supports MSOA’s scholarship program: the association awards scholarships to high school seniors pursuing a degree in marine biology who reside in a coastal town or city that sponsors an MSOA representative. Proceeds from the run help fund three scholarships for qualifying students.

The Clam Crawl is scheduled again for October 11, 2026, at Sandy Neck Beach. For 2026 the MSOA is partnering with Cape Cod Roller Derby to support that group’s scholarship fund, which aims to help young people stay active through roller skating.
