CityTrail Loppet

CityTrail Loppet is an annual urban trail run in Minneapolis on May 17, 2026. The point-to-point course starts in Theodore Wirth Park and finishes at the Sculpture Garden. Three distances are offered:

  • 5K
  • 10K
  • 10 Mile

The course uses a mix of ski trail, singletrack and asphalt. All distances finish together at the Sculpture Garden near public sculptures such as the Cherry and Spoon.

Logistics and race details

Packet pickup is available the day before and the morning of the event. Wave starts are used to spread runners on the trails. Shuttle buses run from Parade Stadium to the Trailhead to transport participants to the starts; there are no post-race shuttles back to the Trailhead. Parade Stadium has paid parking; free parking is available at Dunwoody across the street. Bike racks will be available near the finish.

Aid stations will provide water, Gatorade and Gu gels at locations to be announced. All races offer a bag drop - the 10 Mile and 10K bag drop is at the Trailhead parking lot and the 5K bag drop is at the 5K start. Finish-line offerings include music, snacks and a complimentary Utepils Brewing beer for participants 21+; nonalcoholic options are available. Live athlete tracking and results will be provided through the Mtec Results app. Awards are given to the top three overall finishers in male, female and non-binary categories for each distance; age group results are posted online.
