City of Franklin Trick or Trot 5K
The City of Franklin Trick or Trot 5K is a 3.1 mile road race that begins and ends on Main Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenue in historic downtown Franklin, Virginia. The route goes past the Post Office, turns onto Jackson Street and High Street, continues past the old railroad tracks, and enters Poplar Springs Cemetery via a right turn. Runners follow the public access road behind the cemetery back to High Street, proceed to Bon Secours - Southampton Medical Center, and reach a turnaround at the East Pavilion Nursing Home before returning along the same streets to the finish at Main Street.
The course has mixed terrain with the majority on paved roads and portions on grass and gravel paths through the cemetery. Total elevation change for the course is 62 feet.
Registration for the event opens March 23 and closes October 17; the listed registration fee is $40. Proceeds from the event benefit Franklin and Southampton County community programs managed by the United Way and the Department of Parks and Recreation.
