City of Franklin Trick or Trot 5K
The City of Franklin Trick or Trot 5K and Pumpkin Dash take place in Franklin, Virginia on October 17, 2026. The event features a 5K race and a 1.5 mile Pumpkin Dash that run through historic downtown Franklin, pass the city cemetery, reach the hospital area, and return to the start.

- 5K race through downtown and cemetery
- 1.5 mile Pumpkin Dash open to all ages
Participants may wear costumes; all registered entrants in either the 5K or the Pumpkin Dash are eligible for a costume contest. Costumes are judged before the races and prizes are awarded during the post-race activities.
Packet pick-up is available either the evening before the event or the morning of the event. Before-race activities include music and warm-up sessions at the grass lot beside the Busy Bee near the start and finish area. Post-race activities include awards, music, food, lawn games, and access to the Farmer's Market for additional food and family activities.
Proceeds support programs in Franklin and Southampton County through the United Way and the Department of Parks and Recreation. The 2026 program includes a new virtual 5K option.
