City of Franklin Trick or Trot 5K
The City of Franklin Trick or Trot 5K takes place in historic downtown Franklin, Virginia. The event includes a 5K race that runs through the city cemetery, continues to the hospital, and returns to downtown. A virtual 5K option is new for 2026.
Distances
- 5K through historic downtown, the city cemetery, to the hospital and back.
- 1.5 mile Pumpkin Dash open to all ages; families and children are encouraged.
Registered participants in both the Trick or Trot 5K and the Pumpkin Dash are eligible to enter a costume contest. Costumes are judged before the races and prizes are awarded during the post race activities. The event offers finisher medals and two packet pick-up options: the night before the event or the morning of the race.
Before the races there are music and warm-up activities at the grass lot beside the Busy Bee near the start and finish line. Post race activities include awards, music, food, and lawn games, and the Farmer's Market provides additional food and family activities afterwards. Volunteer and sponsorship opportunities are available to support the community event. Proceeds benefit Franklin and Southampton County programs from the United Way and the Department of Parks and Recreation; tax deductible donations are accepted.
