About the race
The event is a Georgetown road running event offering two main distances. It awards points toward the organizer’s Year-Long 5k, 10k and Back of the Pack series, and points also count toward the Fall Series.
The course follows the C&O Canal on a light gravel dirt road with minimal elevation change and is run as an out and back. Walkers and strollers are welcome. A virtual race option is available for those who cannot attend in person.

Runners receive a finisher’s medal, a technical Drifit event shirt, and the event uses chip timing. Water stations are placed at approximately mile 1.5 on the 5k and at about miles 1.5, 3.1, and 4.6 on the 10k; some stations will offer Gatorade. Portajohns will be available at the venue.
Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to first and second in standard age categories; overall top three finishers are not eligible for age-group prizes. Live results are available via a results service and a QR code at the event, with final results and series points posted after the race. Packet pickup is available at the event, and there is no on-site race registration for this race. Parking is available along Water Street near the Potomac Boat Club.
