20th CHKD RunWalk for the Kids
The 20th CHKD RunWalk for the Kids takes place on August 29, 2026 at Waterside District in Norfolk, Virginia. The event offers multiple participation options and raises funds and awareness for pediatric care and services.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 5K
- 2 Mile Walk
- Virtual option
Every registrant receives an event shirt, a medal, and a goody bag. The event has a superhero theme and encourages participants to wear capes or costumes to honor military, community, CHKD, patient, and personal heroes. A DJ provides music and the site includes a Kids Zone and a food tent serving Chanello’s Pizza, fruit, and drinks.
The 5K is timed by Flat Out Events and bibs include a QR code linking to race results. Top overall 5K finishers receive Running Etc. gift certificates on race day and age group winners are mailed certificates after the event. Age groups start at 14 and under and continue in standard adult brackets up to 60 and over.
Packet pickup is scheduled in the days before the event at Running Etc. in Virginia Beach and at Blue Moon Taphouse in Waterside District, with additional pickup at Blue Moon Taphouse on race day. A virtual option may be completed through August 30, 2026 and shirts and medals for virtual participants are mailed. Weather and safety information may lead to course or schedule changes.
