The 20th CHKD RunWalk for the Kids is a fundraising event on August 29, 2026 at Waterside District in Norfolk, Virginia. The event raises funds and awareness for CHKD and offers in-person and virtual participation options for individuals and teams.

Every registrant receives an event shirt, a medal, and a goody bag. The 5K will be timed by an event timing partner and bibs include a QR code linking to race results. Overall top finishers in the 5K receive gift certificates from Running Etc., and age group winners receive mailed certificates after the event. Team and fundraising prizes are awarded in multiple categories based on registrations and fundraising totals.
Event programming includes emcees, DJ music, a Kids Zone, a food tent serving Chanello’s Pizza plus fruit and drinks, and a cape contest that recognizes participants who wear superhero capes or costumes. Packet pickup is available in the days before the event at local pickup sites and on race day at the Waterside District pickup location.
